You post a story at 8 p.m., a silly poll asking which recipe to try this weekend, and by bedtime about ten replies have landed in your DMs. The next day the story drops off your profile, those replies sink under work threads and stickers from friends, and the memory of who voted lives only in your head for another day or two.

What a story shows you while it's live

Replying to a story takes more than a double tap. Someone has to stop scrolling, open the keyboard and type something to you, which almost nobody does in the feed after liking a post. That's why replies, quick reactions and poll votes tend to come from a smaller, steadier group than your overall audience.

Instagram gives you three places to look:

The viewer list. Swipe up on a story to see who watched, and on polls and quizzes, which option each person picked. The list stays available for 48 hours after you post.
Your DMs. Replies and reactions show up as messages, mixed in with everything else in your inbox.
Question stickers. Answers appear inside the story itself, with the sender's name attached.

Once those two days are up, the viewer list is gone. Your story archive keeps the content but forgets who was there.

Keeping track on your own

If you want to know who those six people are for you, a manual list takes about fifteen minutes a week:

Once a day, before the 48 hours run out, open the viewer list on any story with a poll or question sticker and jot down the handles of people who voted or answered.
In your DMs, find the messages that came in as story replies and add those names to the same note.
On Sunday, count how many times each handle showed up that week. Someone who appears four or five days running deserves a more thoughtful reply, or a shout-out in your next Q&A.

A two-column spreadsheet with name and date is plenty. The hard part is sticking with it, since Instagram wipes the trail on its own schedule and never totals anything for you from one week to the next.

Where Patensify fits
